COVID-19 Pandemic Information (Updated January 19, 2023)
At this time we ask that you please do not visit the office if you or anyone in your household have any flu-like symptoms, have been tested for Covid-19 and are awaiting results, or if you have been in contact with someone that has tested positive or is awaiting results.
Please note that at this time we are unable to book appointments through our online booking system or through email. To book your next appointment, please contact our office at (250)562-1305 during regular business hours.
Masks are strongly recommended but not mandatory in the main area of our office. However, masks are required in some exam rooms. In certain situations, you may be asked to wear a mask.
Our doors will remain locked and detailed instructions will be given at the time of booking. When coming to the office, please knock and we will answer the door as quickly as possible. Please do not bring any food or drink with you.
This is our time to be kind, to be calm and to be safe!
Pre-appointment Screening: At the time of booking you will be given new office protocol instructions. Telemedicine exams may also be used where possible as an adjunct to in-office visits.
Social Distancing: Please respect the recommended 2-meter physical distancing whenever possible during your visit. Understandably at certain times during examination procedures, this may not be possible.
Hand Hygiene/Face Coverings: We require all patients to use the provided hand sanitizer as you enter the clinic.
Use of Vapour Barrier Shields: Vapour barrier shields have been installed at reception and dispensing desks and on other instruments where applicable.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Our staff is supplied with and will be wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
Disinfecting Procedures: Enhanced cleaning between patients and frequent touchpoints has been implemented
COVID-19 Self Assessment: Please do not attend our clinic if you or a family member are ill or have any of the following:
Common Symptoms:
- fever
- tiredness
- dry cough
- difficulty breathing
Other Symptoms:
- aches and pains
- nasal congestion
- runny nose
- sore throat
- difficulty breathing
- diarrhea
Nechako Optometry is committed to protecting the health and well-being of our patients and staff and in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are continuing with new office protocol. As the response to COVID-19 is a fluid situation, and we are following the guidelines from the BC Medical officer and the Canadian and British Columbia associations of optometry, we will update our protocol as needed.
