COVID-19 Pandemic Information (Updated June 6, 2021)

At this time we ask that you please do not visit the office if you or anyone in your household have any flu-like symptoms, have been tested for Covid-19 and are awaiting results, or if you have been in contact with someone that has tested positive or is awaiting results.

Please note that at this time we are unable to book appointments through our online booking system or through email. To book your next appointment, please contact our office at 9250)562-1305 during regular business hours.

Masks now mandatory in B.C. health-care facilities.

All patients must wear a mask (not a scarf/bandana) over their mouth and nose to enter the building (unless a very young child under the age of 2).

Our doors will remain locked and detailed instructions will be given at the time of booking. When coming to the office, please knock and we will answer the door as quickly as possible.

Please note that due to current restrictions and protocols, we are booking further in advance. We apologize for longer wait times and delays. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

This is our time to be kind, to be calm and to be safe!

We ask that you please stay home if you or your family have traveled outside of BC in the last 14 days, have any flu-like symptoms or you have been in contact with someone that has.

Pre-appointment Screening: At the time of booking you will be asked a number of health, employment, and travel questions to help reduce your time in the office. Telemedicine exams will also be used where possible as an adjunct to in-office visits.

Social Distancing: Please respect the recommended 2-meter physical distancing whenever possible during your visit. Understandably at certain times during examination procedures, this may not be possible.

Hand Hygiene/Face Coverings: We require all patients to use the provided hand sanitizer as you enter the clinic. All patients also must wear a mask (not a scarf/bandana) over their mouth and nose to enter the building (unless a very young child under the age of 2)

Reduced Office Occupancy: There will be a limited number of people within the office at any given time.  As you wait to see the doctor for your appointment you will be asked to wait in your vehicle until the doctor is ready to see you. Unless assistance is required, we ask that you attend your appointment alone.

Reduced Office Contact Time: In order to limit in-office exposure time, additional directions will be given at the time of booking an appointment, on a case by case basis.

Use of Vapour Barrier Shields: Vapour barrier shields have been installed at reception and dispensing desks and on other instruments where applicable.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Our staff is supplied with and will be wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.

Disinfecting Procedures: Enhanced cleaning between patients and frequent touchpoints has been implemented

COVID-19 Self Assessment: Please do not attend our clinic if you or a family member are ill or have any of the following:

Common Symptoms:

  • fever
  • tiredness
  • dry cough
  • difficulty breathing

Other Symptoms:

  • aches and pains
  • nasal congestion
  • runny nose
  • sore throat

Nechako Optometry is committed to protecting the health and well-being of our patients and staff and in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are continuing with new office protocol. As the response to COVID-19 is a fluid situation, and we are following the guidelines from the BC Medical officer and the Canadian and British Columbia associations of optometry, we will update our protocol as needed. Please be prepared for longer wait times. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
